Alert: The New York Yankees are in the market for outfield depth. After injuries to Clint Frazier, Aaron Hicks, Ryan LaMarre, and Giancarlo Stanton, the New York Yankees are in dire need of another outfielder.
Delino DeShields Jr
A team that the New York Yankees can lean on is the Texas Rangers. Outfielder Delino DeShields Jr. is a player that the New York Yankees can potentially grab off the market. DeShields Jr. signed a minor league contract only this offseason but has not played this season yet. The New York Yankees would not have to give up that much due to the fact that he only signed a minor league contract. DeShields Jr. can give the New York Yankees outfield depth and is someone who is capable of being an above-average outfielder in centerfield with solid baserunning skills.
December 2020
DeShields Jr. was non-tendered in December by the Cleveland Indians. DeShields Jr. had a poor season through last season batting .252/.310/.318 in 120 plate appearances in which was sent from the Texas Rangers to the Cleveland Indians in part of the Corey Kubler trade that existed back in 2019.
Career
In DeShields Jr. career, his batting lines are .246/.326/.340 in over 2056 career plate appearances and he is only 28 years old. DeShields Jr. career has been modest at best with 18 home runs and 133 runs batted in with a .246 lifetime batting average.
Outfield Depth
I do not see any reason why the New York Yankees would not be able to grab him off the market from the Texas Rangers. The New York Yankees are in a huge hole with their outfield depth and so, if they want to grab ring 28, they are definitely going to have to really try hard to grab another outfielder.
